Overview
"honey" is the fourth single released by rienne under the Off The Record label. I was tasked to do an animation for their upcoming lyric video.
Creative Process
The character sketch, hand-drawn by rienne, was provided in a paper-cutout frame format to facilitate easy rigging in Adobe Character Animator. I imported the character into the software to set up the rigging, which is also my first time using Adobe Character Animator.
To match the vibe, I placed the character in an environment by setting the background to a street sidewalk with trees, ensuring it wouldn't be too busy when the lyrics are displayed. The assets were sourced from Freepik, and the final layout was created in Photoshop. Additionally, I set the font-family of the lyrics to Grimnotes to maintain the video’s cohesive style and added a white outline to the text to ensure readability, especially when it overlaps the background.
The environment, and lyric sync were polished in After Effects. See the video below in action.
