Project Overview

Our group has been tasked to choose which local business we look forward to give a brand refresh and web redesign. We decided to rebrand One of A Kind (OAK) shop – this is a streetwear brand based in several parts of Canada (Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal).

Challenge & Objective

O.A.K. has traditionally offered a wide selection of streetwear (shirts, hoodies, pants, sneakers, and accessories) but lacked a distinct creative identity. The rebrand aims to make the company a leader in streetwear by integrating comic-style graphics and dynamic designs into their collections, drawing in a creative and fashion-forward audience.

To rebrand O.A.K. from a basic streetwear label into a dynamic, artistic, and culturally relevant brand that incorporates comic, graphic design aesthetics, and other creative influences. The goal is to reposition O.A.K. as a trendsetting streetwear brand that stands out in a competitive marketplace, appealing to fashion-forward, creative individuals.

Creative Process

The creative process employed a combination of design thinking and strategic marketing. We conducted a thorough analysis of our brand through competitor analysis and persona developments that enabled us to identify key differentiators and opportunities for our visual identity.

We have formed also the color palette for our visual identity, consisting of deep red, green, and purple as primary set of colors and secondary /accent consisting of yellow, cream, and black. We align this set of color to O.A.K. as it reflects the bold, artistic, and rebellious spirit of streetwear culture. This dynamic set of colors evokes the energy of urban life, creativity, and the laid-back, vivid nature of modern self-expression.

Scope of work

My role as the logo designer is to assess the current logo and give a redesign that will align the objective. I have seen the logo presents minimalistic approach on bold fonts, but seems that it’s leaning more on corporate branding. The use of light blue and orange gives a friendly vibe and contradicting of the streetwear branding using darker and more vibrant colors that will make it stand out.

In the redesign, I incorporated bolder fonts to convey personality and uniqueness. We subtly associate textured elements, representing the fusion of fashion, attitude, and culture. The primary goal of the design is to create a visual presence that resonates with the streetwear community.
